By purchasing live poultry or poultry-related products from Wise County Chicken Farm, you acknowledge that you are assuming full responsibility for the care, transportation, and wellbeing of your purchase once it leaves our property.
All live animals are sold AS-IS, WHERE-IS and must be inspected at the time of pickup. Proper transportation, housing, nutrition, and ongoing care are the buyer’s responsibility.

Poultry Care Responsibility
It is the buyer’s responsibility to provide an appropriate environment for all poultry, including:
- Adequate housing
- Proper heat or shade
- Clean bedding
- Fresh food and water
- Any necessary supplements
Poultry health and wellbeing depend on many factors, including but not limited to:
- Coop setup
- Bedding choices
- Heating methods
- Nutrition
- Weather conditions
- Transportation method
- Duration of travel
- Flock management practices
Once poultry leaves Wise County Chicken Farm care, no guarantees are made regarding health, productivity, or outcome.
While we take great pride in providing healthy poultry to our community, raising live animals carries inherent risks, and outcomes may vary despite best practices.

Live Animal Sales
At this time, no refunds, returns, or replacements are offered on live poultry once the animal has left Wise County Chicken Farm property.
All live animals are sold AS-IS, WHERE-IS.
It is the buyer’s responsibility to inspect all poultry at the time of pickup and confirm the animal appears healthy and acceptable. Any concerns must be addressed immediately prior to leaving the premises.
Once the animal leaves our property, all responsibility transfers to the buyer.
Discretionary Review of Concerns
While Wise County Chicken Farm maintains a general no-refund and no-replacement policy on live poultry once animals leave our property, we understand that concerns may occasionally arise.
In certain situations, concerns reported within 24 hours of pickup may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis at the sole discretion of Wise County Chicken Farm. Any assistance, replacement, credit, or resolution offered is voluntary and does not constitute a guarantee, warranty, or ongoing policy obligation.
Failure to follow recommended transportation, brooder, housing, feeding, temperature, quarantine, or general care guidelines may void consideration for any discretionary assistance.
Transportation Requirements
It is the buyer’s responsibility to provide safe and adequate transportation for live poultry.
Proper poultry transportation includes:
- A secure poultry transport cage or carrier
- A solid, non-slip bottom with appropriate bedding
- Adequate ventilation
- A carrier securely fastened to the vehicle
- Sufficient space for birds to stand and reposition safely
Adult poultry may be transported in wire dog kennels only if:
- The plastic tray is properly secured
- The kennel is secured to the vehicle
- A rug, mat, or similar bedding is used to prevent slipping

Temperature & Weather Considerations
We do not recommend transporting poultry in temperatures below 40°F or above 90°F unless transportation is climate controlled.
Baby poultry requiring supplemental heat must be:
- Protected from drafts
- Kept out of direct sunlight
- Maintained at age-appropriate temperatures
While we are happy to assist with loading or handling during pickup, all transportation methods and associated risks are assumed entirely by the buyer.
Risk of Loss
Upon taking possession of live poultry, the buyer assumes all risk of loss, including but not limited to:
- Injury
- Illness
- Stress
- Death
Wise County Chicken Farm shall not be held responsible for losses occurring after poultry leaves our property.
