Collection: Chicks
At Wise County Chicken Farm, we take pride in offering premium chicks under 8 weeks old. At this age, chicks typically require a heat source to thrive.
Heat Guidelines for Chicks:
- Week 1: 95°F
- Week 2: 90°F
- Week 3: 85°F
- Week 4: 80°F
(Decrease by 5°F weekly as they grow.)
The exact heat requirements can vary depending on environmental factors, so these guidelines are general recommendations. Most chicks can safely transition off heat between 6 and 8 weeks of age.
We update each chick's age or hatch date on our website, so you always know what you're purchasing. Whether you’re looking for top egg producers, family-friendly birds, or colorful egg layers, we maintain a diverse selection of healthy chicks to meet your needs.
To give your chicks the best start, we recommend our high-quality starter feed which provides essential nutrients for their growth and development. You can find it on our Feed and Supplements section of our website. Even if you are considering changing to a different feed, it is still highly recommended to do a slow transition on feed to minimize gastrointestinal upsets.
Consider buying a small bag to get you started if you are considering switching.
Our chicks are also dewormed strategically at 4 weeks of age, ensuring they’re healthy and ready for your care. Trust Wise County Chicken Farm for quality chicks and expert guidance for your growing flock!
