Silkies are unique all on their own. Their feathers are soft, like silk, hence their name. They are slightly more delicate than other breeds and because of their feathers need supportive heat on extremely cold temperatures. They make great mothers and are broody often, but remain gentle, calm and docile all on their own. They are considered the "lap dog" of the chicken world and enjoy interactions with their human counterparts.
Their skin is black along with their bones and they'll have defined blue earlobes as they mature. Least noticeable of all their traits is 5 toes.
