The Ayam Cemani is a rare breed of chicken. They originated from Indonesia and are known for their hyperpigmentation. This makes the chicken mostly black, feathers, beak, waddles and comb. Their meat and bones are even black too! Hens will lay tinted, cream, or light blue eggs. They are an active bird and do well with free ranging and are known for being faster than other breeds, making predator avoidance ideal. The hens rarely go broody; which makes them a perfect choice for families with small children.
