Bring a touch of elegance to your backyard flock with the Cayuga Duck – a heritage breed known for its stunning iridescent black plumage that shimmers green in the sunlight. Originally developed in New York's Finger Lakes region, Cayugas are one of the few American duck breeds and have been treasured for their beauty, meat quality, and gentle personalities since the 1800s.
Cayugas are a great choice for families or first-time duck keepers. They’re quiet compared to many other duck breeds, easy to manage, and excellent foragers. While they don’t lay as prolifically as Khakis or Campbells, their unique eggs make up for it – often starting the season dark gray to nearly black before gradually lightening.
Whether you’re looking for a beautiful yard companion, an excellent table bird, or a fun conversation starter, Cayugas fit the bill – literally and figuratively.
Why Choose Cayuga Ducks?
✔ Breathtaking iridescent feathers – truly a showstopper
✔ Quiet and calm – ideal for urban and rural settings
✔ Unique, dark-colored eggs that change with the season
✔ American heritage breed with historical roots
✔ Great dual-purpose option for eggs and meat
Cayugas are more than just ducks – they’re a walking piece of living art with a peaceful nature and deep farming heritage.
